I started writing the Magic in the Mountains series in the fall of 2022. It began as a lesson in creative writing for my sons but soon took on a life of its own. It was truly a family project. I'd write the latest chapter, and my husband, sons, and mom would offer suggestions and ideas. My oldest son (8 at the time) was the first to illustrate the book. He took this job very seriously.  

I decided to have the first book professionally illustrated and pass it on as a gift to my boys. I never really intended to publish it.  A year later, however, I reluctantly changed my mind and decided to self-publish. I had no idea what I was doing, but to my surprise, people bought the book, and some even liked it.
